Loop Reins natural hackamore The quick hackamore!  Using the same principles as the natural horseman's hackamore, our loop reins also aid in teaching the horse to give to pressure and follow the feel of cues given through the reins before the bit is introduced or reintroduced .  Our loop reins are  made from the same supple weight of rope as our mecates and lead ropes and will turn any halter into a  hackamore.  The loop rein is perfect for "knot challenged" people who find the mecate knot on the standard hackamore imposing.  It is also a less costly way to achieve the same end result.  It is typically used along with a standard 12 foot.  Changing from a halter to hackamore is now as simple as slipping the snugging loop and knot over the fiador knot of your halter! These reins are a standard nine foot loop, carefully double spliced to form a continuous circle and sewn with sail maker's twine for security.  The snugging loop is then looped through the splices and the locking knot is stitched for a secure finish.  Custom sizes are available upon request.  Loop reins are available in white (as shown), black, white/gold and white/teal.  The snugging loop and knot (shown in black at left) comes in white, black/white, gold/white and teal/white to match the reins.  Click on either picture to the left for an enlarged image if you would like to see more detail.

Our hackamore comes with a solid white mecate as a standard color.  Solid black is an additional $14.00.
 
 

Turks Head Tassle Our hackamore has a tassled backsplice as standard finish; upgrade to double stranded turk's head in fine braided white nylon for $15.00. The image at right shows an optional turk's head on the bottom and the standard tassled back splice on the top. Note that the turk's head tassel has twice the volume of the tasseled backsplice.

Hackamores The horseman's natural hackamore (a.k.a. jaquima or halter and mecate) aids in teaching the horse to give to pressure and follow the feel of cues given through the reins before the bit is introduced or reintroduced.  It also helps keep the mouth soft while learning.  It trains effectively because it instantly releases when the horse yields to your suggestion.  Our hackamores combine one of our rope halters (with extra long lines coming out the top of the fiador knot for use in tying the hackamore knot) with an extended 22' line (again, the extra length is used in tying the hackamore knot) finished as a mecate using either a tassled back splice or a double stranded turk's head, giving you a 9 foot loop rein and 12 foot lead in one.  Standard hackamores have a white mecate with the halter portion available in gold/white, red, green with white fleck, black, white and white with green or red fleck. Matching hackamores available in gold/white, solid white, teal/white and black.  At left is our hackamore with the halter in teal and mecate in teal and white.
